Lehigh Uplands Preserve (Walking Purchase Park, Riverside Tract)

DESCRIPTION: Hardwood forest and riverside habitat. An area of scrub growth and an area of grasses. Good for migrant passerines, waterfowl, and raptors.

DIRECTIONS: From Bethlehem, take PA 378 south. After crossing the river, go 0.4 mile and bear right on Broadway. Go 1.6 miles and turn right on Weil Street. Go 0.5 mile and turn left at Cardinal Drive/Constitution Road. Go 1 mile to the parkinmg lot on the left. From Allentown, from the intersection of US 22 and PA 145, go south on PA 145 for 3 miles and go left on Susquehanna Street. Go 0.5 mile and turn left onto Constitution Drive. Go 1.6 miles to the parking lot on the right. Follow the road downriver to the islands and the pump house. There are trails around the scrub area that can be accessed here. If you follow the utility line you will come out by the railroad tracks and these can be followed back to the parking area.
