The 2006 winner of PSO's Conservation Award is Tom Dick of Somerset County, PA. This award is given to a person, persons, or group for work that has resulted in significant bird conservation in PA.

Tom, a veterinarian, was instrumental in the creation of Dunnings Creek wetlands in Somerset County and serves as a director of this conservation and education project. Many school groups visit the site as part of their environmental education programs. Tom bought the site on which the Allegheny Front Hawk Watch is conducted and turned it over to the Allegheny Plateau Audubon Society. He is also closely involved with the issue of wind turbine development on the Allegheny Front.
